Monthly Meeting Minutes
April 17, 2012
Lucie Monroe’s Christiansburg
Leigh Anne Weitzenfeld from Riverbend Nursery gave a presentation on “Live Roof”, a hybrid green roof system. This system uses various species of sedum which are planted in modules. A green roof helps to manage urban storm water, acts as a fire retardant, provides habitat (migration corridors) for insects and wildlife, helps with noise reduction, cleans the air and extends roof life. If you have any questions, contact Leigh Anne at leighanne@riverbendnursery.com.
Chris Wilson announced that she would be stepping down as president. She asked that if anyone is interested, to contact her. The position entails chairing the meetings, monitoring the Website and Facebook and putting out the newsletter. The delegate position is separate.
A Rally for Stadium Woods will be this Sunday at 1 outside Squires. There will be a walk at Stadium Woods on April 26 at 6 pm behind the Cranwell Center.
We hope to have a booth at Steppin’ Out and share it with other like-minded groups. We also plan to have a table at the Blacksburg Farmer’s Market on the third Wednesday of the month from 2 to 7. We will be handing out brochures on becoming a Sierra Club member. We also plan to have a brochure on the pollution caused by the Radford Arsenal.
